The World Amber Council

The Founding Act of the World Amber Council was signed on 28 June 2006 at the Uphagen House in Gdańsk in the presence of Mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz by the following VIPs from the world of amber: Olena Belichenko, Ulf Erichson, Wiesław Gierłowski, Mariusz Gliwiński, Adam Koperkiewicz, Barbara Kosmowska-Ceranowicz, Zoya Kostyashova, Alexander K. Krylov, Wiesław Krzemiński, Kazimiras Mizgiris, Ewa Rachoń, Zbigniew Strzelczyk, Ryszard Szadziewski, Wolfgang Weitschat, Norbert Vávra, Alexander A. Zhuravlev, Alicja Zobel (authorised representative). Wiesław Gierłowski became the Council’s President. The organisation’s goal is to promote amber, develop a uniform international amber certification system and support scientific, cultural, educational and economic activities.
