The jewellery by a well-known designer of silver jewellery with amber, Jacek Ostrowski, was acknowledged as the best one at the Showcase Ireland fair.
 560 exhibitors took part in the biggest international trade fair Showcase Ireland, held this year between 20 th and 23 rd January in Dublin. Their offer was divided into five basic sectors: handicraft and gifts, interior decoration and tableware, jewellery, fashion and accessories and Celtic mementos. During these four days the fair was visited by 9 000 merchants, including 2 000 from 30 countries of the world.
In the jewellery sector the Irish representative presented silver jewellery with amber designed by Jacek Ostrowski from Gdansk. And his jewellery won The Top 50 New Products at Showcase 2008 competition in the Jewellery category. The exhibitors entered 150 products into this competition. The expert jury consisting of international merchants and bearing in mind mostly such guidelines as a novelty of design and a high quality of work, chose the best 50 in four categories: interior decoration and tableware, jewellery, handicraft and gifts, fashion and accessories. These works were presented during special exhibition and thanks to it the merchants were able to familiarize themselves with the latest solutions and trends.
Jacek Ostrowski is a young designer, a graduate of the Design Institute at Koszalin Technical University. In 2006 he was given a distinction in the Mercurius Gedanensis competition in Technical Innovation category, a year later his “Fine line” collection of silver jewellery with amber attracted attention at The Amber and Fashion Gala at Amberif and was presented in June by the Museum of Amber in Gdansk. In February this year Jacek Ostrowski is going to represent Poland at the inhorgenta europe fair in Munich as part of the Brand New – New Brand forum.
