The presentation not only introduces in an attractive way the collections and halls of the Museum of Amber in Gdansk, but first of all impresses with an abundance of knowledge about “gold of the North”, provided to a virtual tourist by means of variety of forms and measures.
 “Architecture of the Foregate in Gdansk, where the Museum of Amber is currently situated, imposed factual division of the exposition. That is why two major subjects were distinguished, forming two independent routes of touring” – this is the beginning of the multimedia presentation entitled “A virtual tour. The Museum of Amber in Gdansk”. The visitors begin their tour in the courtyard and can choose between the route which will familiarize them with a rich history of the Foregate, and the one providing a history of amber and amber craft.
A tour through the successive floors
A virtual tourist has to walk on the successive floors of the Prison Tower, actively taking part in the story about the events which took place millions years ago. On the first floor he can see the “Amber in Nature” exposition and an educational presentation called “A History of Amber”, which introduces an origin of this resin in an attractive way. The visitor can see the way of inclusions creation, what an amber forest looked like and see the most interesting exhibit items of the museum’s nature collection.
The ancient history of amber
The next stop of the virtual tour is “The Ancient History of Amber”. Here you can familiarize yourself with the beginning of amber usage and its role in a history of a human culture and discover a history of its deposits. The next sections are called: “Handicraft and Modern Art”, “Amber in Jewellery” and “Historical Exhibition”, “Courtroom”, “Prison Cells of the Torture House”. Moreover, this publication contains 360 degrees panoramas, films and photographs.
