 287 Internet users, choosing the best product of the Ambermart fair in the Ambermart Gallery competition, voted for watches decorated with amber by Jacek Ostrowski.
Jacek Ostrowski proved that he could design interesting accessories also for men when he prepared – together with Emilia Korycka, a fashion designer – a show entitled “Luxury Boy” for this year’s Amber and Fashion Gala at Amberif. At Amberif there was a premiere of silver watches decorated with Baltic amber in cognac and white colours. Whence this marriage of amber and watches? Jacek Ostrowski explains it in the following way: “A production of watches constitutes a big challenge for me, first of all because of a precision of workmanship. I treated it as a test, to check if I would be able to prepare such design which would draw attention because of the precision of workmanship, its elegance and functionality. I decided on amber as this material is very close to me. I also wanted to show its never-ending possibilities of usage.”
Jacek Ostrowski is a last year’s graduate of the Koszalin University of Technology, Industrial Design Institute (Poland). First jewellery forms he was designing during his studies rather for fun which quite fast turned into passion. He has been designing silver jewellery decorated with Baltic amber for two years. Amber has an exceptional meaning for him: it is a very  warm and rewarding material, making the decorations more charming and elegant. That is why irrespectively of the collections: 4wave or Fine-line it attracts attention, enraptures with its inner light and enchants by magic. And most important of all is the fact that his jewellery breaks stereotypes connected with amber: being inspired by geometry he creates forms which are modern, avant-garde and light.
His innovative way of thinking about amber has met with a favourable response. In Poland quite quickly Jacek Ostrowski was noticed and awarded in the Mercurius Gedanensis 2006 competition, organized at the International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones Amberif in Gdansk. This year also began successfully and brought him an award in “The Top 50 New Products at Showcase 2008” competition in the Jewellery category, organized at The Showcase Ireland trade fair in January this year, and in The Amber Handicraft 2007 in March this year at Amberif fair. The inhorgenta europe 2008 also was successful for him – he presented his achievements at the Brand New – New Brand Platform.
