Amber Handicraft 2008 - awards

During the Amberif fair there were given the awards in the National Competition for Goldsmiths and Jewelles Amber Handicraft organized in two age categories and with three subjects.

The Amber Handicraft competition is organized by the Goldsmiths and Jewellers Trade Committee of the Pomeranian Chamber of Handicrafts for Small and Medium Enterprises in cooperation with the Gdansk International Fair Co. Its aim is to present practical abilities of professional goldsmiths and the people who only begin to familiarize themselves with the arcana of goldsmithery, as well as their promotion. Traditionally the competition is held in two age categories: the juniors and the seniors. This year its participants were given 3 subjects: “A gift for my mother” (juniors) and “Man’s jewellery in the retro style” and “Treasures from the Baltic Sea” (seniors).

The Committee composed of: Grzegorz Dzwilewski – a Senior of the Artistic Handicraft Guild, Zbigniew Strzelczyk – a president of the Polish Chamber of Amber, Mariusz Gliwinski – a chairman of the International Amber Association, Karol Kowalski – the chairman of the Trade Commission of Goldsmiths and Jewellers and Marek Mikicki and Waldemar Wronski – the members of the Trade Commission of Goldsmiths and Jewellers. After deliberations on 5th March 2008 the Committee gave the following awards:

JUNIOR CATEGORY
“A gift for my mother”
1st prize – Marek Polgert for the necklace “Two Hearts”
2nd prize – Olaf Chalaj-Batory for the work “Amber Egg”
3rd prize – Piotr Lewicki for the necklace “Amber Mirror”
Distinctions:
Maciej Schneider from S&A Bursztynowa Bizuteria
Wojciech Nazarewicz from S&A Bursztynowa Bizuteria

SENIOR CATEGORY

„Man’s jewellery in the retro style”
1st prize – Pawel Was for a pair of cufflinks
2nd prize – Jacek Ostrowski for the watch “In Man’s Style”
3rd prize – Maciej Lobocki for the work “Scarab Beetle”

“Treasures from the Baltic Sea”

1st prize – Remigiusz Kokosinski for the work “Flatfish”
2nd prize – Leszek Jerzy Sobiech for the object “Baltic Treasures”
3rd prize – Adam Sznapka for the hanging label “Princessa Baltica”
