Museums

Because of amber’s extremely fragile nature, relatively few historical amber artefacts have survived to our day: there are only a few hundred items in the museums of Europe. These include devotional items, jewellery, objects of everyday use as well as sculptures and such large and impressive items as cabinets, boxes and altars. It is estimated that the works made in the workshops of the Gdańsk amber masters are now in the collections of over one hundred museums and church treasuries in Europe.
