The Amber Experts at The International Amber Association

The Founding Act of the World Amber Council was signed on 28 June 2006 at the Uphagen House in Gdańsk. The organisation’s goal is to promote amber, develop a uniform international amber certification system and support scientific, cultural, educational and economic activities.

The Polish Commercial Chamber of Amber associates Polish companies which design and manufacture amber objets d’art, and carry out the extraction of Baltic amber. The Polish Commercial Chamber of Amber is registered in Gdansk. The Chamber works towards promoting Gdansk and has initiated the establishment of the Gdansk Amber Museum, which is a branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Gdansk.
In 2006, the International Amber Association celebrated its 10th anniversary. The organisation associates manufacturers and merchants from the amber industry, artists who create amber works of art and the collectors of natural specimens and historical amber artefacts. The Association also includes researchers from various scientific fields who deal with amber-related issues. The Association has currently 233 members, including 69 members from 23 countries from throughout the world, including the USA, Germany, the UK, France, Canada, Spain, India, South Africa and the Dominican Republic.
