"Amber Inspires" - in English

Which museum has the most interesting amber exhibits? Where can one buy the most attractive amber products? Which restaurants tempt with an amber menu? Less and Less Amber in the Baltic Sea

The biggest block of amber so far was found on the beach in Sobieszewo in 2004. The amber block of 0.94 kilo in weight was fished out of water by a local fisherman - Sylwester Malucha. So far the record hasn't been broken.

Last weekend on the beach in Jantar, where the eliminations and the final of the twelfth Amber Hunting Championship took place, there were 267 people from Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Czech Republic and Russia looking for the gold of Baltic.

During the winter storms, amber has greater buoyancy in the sea, because the sea’s salinity is increased (and thus the seawater’s displacement). It is then that the Baltic storms easily wash up the Gold of the North onto the shore together with twigs, known as “flotsam.”
