Tomasz Mikołajczyk, the owner of the amber.com.pl portal, the Amber Museum in Cracow and the Boruni Gallery estimates that modified amber constitutes 95 per cent of the market. Therefore he has written an open letter to the main shareholders controlling the International Gdańsk Fair Plc, in which he demands that solutions are implemented at the Amberif trade fair, which would ensure a higher security of purchase. Why, in his opinion, is it the Amberif that has the chance to rescue the amber market in Poland?

No Changes in the World Amber Council

The members of the World Amber Council met, for the fifth time, in Gdańsk over May 21st – 22nd 2010 to discuss current issues concerning amber in the world, country and on the local scale.

The most important event during the Second Forum of the Amber Route Cities was undoubtedly the signing of the letter of intent concerning the cooperation between the cities of Gdańsk and Rivne.

The second forum of the Amber Route Cities has finished. The meeting this year seemed to be of smaller rank than before, even though there were twice as many participants. Over 160 participants from Poland and other countries signed up for the forum, 120 people were accredited.

Medals for Amber Promotion

During the Fashion and Amber Gala Amberif 2010 the President of the City of Gdańsk personally presented medals to people notable in the area of promoting the World's Capital of Amber. The medals were awarded to: Barbara Kosmowska-Ceranowicz, Ryszard Szadziewski, Krzysztof Lalik, Tomasz Mikołajczyk and Anna Sado, Henryk Wiedrycki and posthumoustly Aleksandr Zhuravlev and Elena Gradinarova.
